Video conference anyone?!

October 6th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Culture, Leadership, Life, Site News

I’m considering the possibility of hosting a video conference conversation for a maximum of ten people every 4 to 6 weeks.

There are so many good books being read, so many important topics being thought about, and so many issues being mulled over. But all too often this is only happening amongst ourselves as individuals. And that so often results in little action happening as a result.

I’m as guilty as the next person of reading a great, challenging book but then doing nothing about it. But when I read and discuss a book with others, there is much more motivation (and peer pressure!) to actually do something.

So, here’s some ideas:

- We could read a book together and then organise a video conversation to process it and work towards action ideas.

- We could share ideas and issues that we’d like to discuss and perhaps put them to the vote for which one will get discussed during that particular video conference.

Obviously, there’s loads more possibilities and I’d love you to share any you have. And, of course, some conversations will be of more interest to some than others. We’ll pick a topic or a book though, set a date, and the first 10 people who are interested can participate.

What do you think? Anyone interested?

Coming soon (Why you should keep reading!!)

May 19th, 2008 | 4 Comments | Posted in Site News

Here at The Sixth Sense, I’m really looking to expand and diversify both the content and reach of the blog in the coming weeks and months.

As part of that, there are several features that I’m going to be adding which I hope will enhance your experience as both a reader and participant.

Interesting Links

The first feature was actually mentioned last Friday. And that is simply a plan to have a regular ‘Interesting Links’ post that lots of different people contribute to. This will be a selection of items on the web that would make for an interesting read. If it makes the list it means someone thinks it’s definitely worth your while having a read!

The Big Five: Author Interviews

Another feature I’m introducing is a set five questions that various different authors will answer to give you the low down on their book and why they think you should read it. You’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions in the comments box. Should be fun!

Guest Columnists

Whilst I’m sure most of you could never grow bored of my posts (!), I am asking a variety of different people from very different places and perspectives to become occasional guest columnists here at The Sixth Sense. I’m excited about having lots of different voices contribute, I think they’ll add a lot.

They’ll be other new features coming soon, but that’s all for now. Let me know any thoughts or suggestions you may have too.

And, as part of broadening the audience of this blog, please feel free to mention it to friends, add it to your blogroll, and just generally point people this way! Thanks!

What do you think?

So, for those of you who have already subscribed to either of those blog feeds you may get notifications from some old posts as I bring them over here. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your patience!
